Bob Taylor is chairman of Taylor’s Do it Centers, one of Virginia Beach’s oldest retail businesses that operates hardware stores throughout Hampton Roads. The family-owned company acquired Pleasants Hardware stores in the Richmond region in 2016.

Taylor had served as president of Taylor’s Do it Centers until 2001, when he was asked to take an executive job at Do it Best Corp., the world’s largest independent member-owned hardware, lumber, and building materials buying cooperative in the home improvement industry based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was senior vice president of operations, overseeing purchasing, retail logistics, marketing and international development.

He served as president and CEO of Do it Best Corp. from October 2001 through January 2016. He also served for six years (1994-2000) on the Do it Best Corp. board of directors including as chairman of the board for two years.

In 2012, he was inducted into the prestigious Home Channel Hall of Fame.

While in Fort Wayne, he held leadership roles on Corporate Council, the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, the Regional Chamber, Greater Fort Wayne Inc., and United Way. He also served on the Indiana State Chamber Board and on the board of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation.

Taylor returned home to Virginia Beach in 2016, where he has reconnected in his charitable and civic activities including service on the Virginia Beach Resort Advisory Commission, Westminster Canterbury Board of Trustees, and Virginia Beach Vision.
