Richmond-based BRAINBox Solutions is redefining concussion care

The Speakers:

Donna J. Edmonds is a founder and CEO of BRAINBox Solutions, a Richmond-based biotech company that is developing the first AI‐enabled, multi‐modality approach for the diagnosis and prognosis of mild traumatic brain injury, now commonly referred to as a concussion.

Edmonds is a serial entrepreneur with 35-plus years of healthcare experience bridging both the provider and industry segments of healthcare.

She is a founder of Virginia Life Sciences Investments Inc. that funded several international technology startups. She led the Series A investment in ImmunArray, the original home of the broad portfolio of biomarkers for neurological disease diagnosis and monitoring (including traumatic brain injury).

It was spun out in late 2018 to BRAINBox Solutions, where she is a founder and CEO.

Edmonds began as critical care nurse, migrating to operations and hospital administration, was a general manager of a large specialty physician group practice and then was recruited to industry, in clinical and business leadership positions.

She spent eight-plus years with Baxter International in senior (group) global executive positions in business development, sales and marketing of clinical products aimed at improving care and reducing health care costs.

She has served in senior C level management roles for 10 diagnostic companies, focused on commercialization in her career and was in key leadership roles in two company exits.

She served on the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park Authority for nine years from 1999-2008. In July 2023, she was again appointed to the now renamed Virginia Biotechnology Research Partnership Authority (doing business as Activation Capital).

Millions of Americans each year seek care in emergency departments and urgent care centers after a head injury — yet most leave without a clear diagnosis.

Even when CT scans are used, they miss the vast majority of concussions because there is no brain bleed, leaving both patients and physicians without definitive answers or a clear path forward.

Join us on Wednesday, May 6at noon for a free webinar to learn how BRAINBox Solutions is working to change that.

The Richmond-based startup is developing an AI-enhanced, multimodal platform that measures both the biology and function of a brain injury — combining proprietary blood biomarkers with neurocognitive assessment to deliver a concussion diagnosis and 30-day prognosis from a single patient encounter.

Hear directly from Donna Edmonds, a founder and CEO of BRAINBox Solutions, as she discusses how the company is bringing objective, data-driven concussion diagnosis to emergency medicine, sports medicine, and beyond — helping clinicians make faster, more informed decisions and improving outcomes for patients. She also will discuss the future of brain injury care.

BRAINBox Solutions was spun out in late 2018 from ImmunArray, the original home of the broad portfolio of biomarkers for neurological disease diagnosis and monitoring including traumatic brain injury.
