Richmond firm has developed high-tech equipment to cut down on plastic waste in labs

Lane Major is president and CEO of Richmond-based Grenova Inc., the Peloton Equity-backed life sciences innovator, manufacturer, and global distributor committed to reimagining the use and reuse of plastic consumables.
Prior to Grenova, Lane co-founded K2M, Inc., a global leader of complex spine and minimally invasive solutions that transformed the lives of more than a million people worldwide. As COO and chief strategy officer, Lane grew K2M from a pre revenue, angel-funded start-up to $300 million in annual revenue and a $1.4 billion acquisition by Stryker Corp.
Retained following Stryker Corp’s acquisition of K2M, Lane served as general manager of the newly combined spine division, building and integrating about $2 billion in investment around medical device, biologics, robotics, navigation, and other enabling technologies, a maneuver that cemented the brand as the world’s third-largest spine company.
Lane also serves as a board director for Virginia-based companies Biomech Holdings LLC, and BarTrack Inc.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Grenova also has developed an impact calculator, tailored to measure the impact of its program in labs. By integrating data on energy consumption, water usage, material inputs, and waste generation, this calculator provides labs with a holistic view of their environmental impact, enabling informed decision-making and targeted interventions.
