Ting Xu, a Shanghai, China native, founded Evergreen Enterprises in her suburban Richmond home in 1993 with $20,000 out of a desire to help her parents start a new career after immigrating to the United States.
From a small decorative flag line, Evergreen Enterprises has grown to be one of the leading gift, garden, and home decor companies in North America, with over 700 employees. Under Xu’s leadership, the company has completed numerous successful acquisitions including the 2010 purchase of Plow & Hearth, a multi-channel retailer of home and garden products.
Xu serves on various boards including NewMarket Corp. (NYSE: NEU), the Nature Conservancy’s Virginia Chapter, and VPM Media Corporation. She is an advocate for Chinese-American relations, sponsoring events like the VMFA's Forbidden City and Terracotta Warriors, the Richmond Ballet's Road to China, and numerous political and economic development events locally and in China.
Xu is an active angel investor in a variety of industries including consumer products, healthcare, financial services, and technology. She is passionate about mentoring young women in entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
With the inspiration of her two passionate children, Xu endeavors to be a positive force in the search for environmental sustainability and global social harmony.
