John A. Luke Jr. is the retired chairman of WestRock Co.. Prior to WestRock, Luke was chairman and chief executive officer of MeadWestvaco, a global packaging company in Richmond.
His career with the company spanned more than 30 years in a variety of leadership roles.
Luke serves as a director of FM Global, The Timken Co. and NextUp RVA. He is also a member of the industry advisory network of Blue Heron Capital and serves as a trustee of The American Enterprise Institute, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and the VCU Investment Management Company.
Previously, Luke served on the Boards of BNY Mellon, Dominion Energy Midstream Partners LP, the National Association of Manufacturers, and the American Forest and Paper Association.
He also served on the Board of Visitors of VCU, the board of directors of VCU Health System, the board of trustees of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the board of governors of The Community Foundation for a greater Richmond. Luke is a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War-era veteran.
