As associate vice president for Corporate Partnerships, Sarah Jane Kirkland is focused on developing partnership opportunities with corporate and nonprofit executives, including work-based learning, corporate grants for research and development, and workforce development initiatives.

Prior to this role, she was president and CEO of CIVIC Leadership Institute, where she engaged in many large-scale regional initiatives including the 757 Recovery and Resilience Action Framework.

Kirkland’s board service includes GO Virginia Region 5 Council, YMCA South Hampton Roads corporate board, and member of the Hampton Roads Regional Transit Advisory Panel.

In 2021, Kirkland was recognized by Inside Business with a Women in Business Award. In 2022, she was included in the Inside Business Power Players list. And in 2023, she was honored by Volunteer Hampton Roads as the Harvey L. Lindsay Jr. Changemaker award.
