Robert “Bobby” Cowgill has been president of SouthState Bank’s Virginia operations since 2020. He joined SouthState in 2014 and has since held positions of increasing influence and responsibility within the bank, including serving as Richmond market president.

Before joining SouthState, he served as Richmond market president for Park Sterling Bank, and held other senior level positions in the Richmond area for StellarOne Bank and Regions Bank.

Cowgill is currently vice chair of the board of directors of the United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg, serves on the board of directors for ChamberRVA and Sportable Adaptive Sports, and as a Virginia School of Bank Management Trustee for the Virginia Bankers Association.
