PCs for People officially selects the Richmond-Hampton Roads megaregion as its next expansion market

PCs for People founder and CEO, Casey Sorensen, officially announced at the Convergence 2024 conference on Oct. 1 that PCs for People has selected the Richmond-Hampton Roads megaregion as its next expansion market. 

PCs for People is the largest and most successful national nonprofit computer refurbisher, operating in large U.S. markets with a vision to end the digital divide. PCs for People collects outdated computers, at no cost to the donating businesses and organizations; refurbishes the old computers and installs the latest software; and provides the renewed desktop systems to underserved residents and families for free and late-model laptops up to $150.

The Richmond region and Hampton Roads

The world’s next Global Internet Hub isn’t a single city but rather an area from the Richmond region to Hampton Roads. Known as the I-64 Innovation Corridor, located just two hours south of Washington, D.C., this 8,000 square mile megaregion has a combined population of more than 3 million residents, placing it among the top 20 largest U.S. regions. RVA757 Connects hightlights innovations taking place in the I-64 Innovation Corridor megaregion from the Richmond region to Hampton Roads through its monthly webinars called Virtual Innovation Spotlight.

The webinars are held on the first Wednesdays of every month (except for July and August) from noon to 1 p.m. The webinars are free, but registration is required.

Join RVA757 Connects on Wednesday November 6 at noon to learn about the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development’s ongoing efforts to close the digital divide in Virginia through broadband access, affordability and adoption. The state agency manages a portfolio of nearly $2 billion in combined state and federal grants.
